When back-to-back crises placed people’s daily lives and livelihoods on hold, one positive outcome emerged, with more citizens setting aside their personal beliefs and political differences while coming together to extend a helping hand to those most vulnerable members of our society.
Let’s continue to build on these positive character traits ingrained in who we are as true equals in the human race, guided by morality and compassion for all living beings on the planet. Let's begin to move forward again, united in the center of the most devastating chain of events to bring the nation to its knees in modern history, with a perfect union the founders envisioned our democratic republic to evolve cohesively through the changing times ahead.
Empowering the People's Voice in Congress
Is anyone else tired of America's voices in Congress being ignored by the lawmakers we hired to represent the people's needs and those of our communities first and foremost? Most of our lawmakers and political leaders need to be more in touch with the people's priorities than ever before, regardless of party affiliation. Lawmakers who came to Washington to work for all the people, placing the country first, remain outnumbered by the political ideologues, who have now sold the American people out to the highest bidders.
Because Congress is self-regulated and members have conveniently provided themselves immunity to act outside the laws the rest of us have to live and work within, their workplace ethical demeanor remains in question today by their constituents and all the citizens of this great country. They have neither the urgency to act on critical issues that can no longer be ignored nor the ambition to help people try to live their lives with dignity. Americans have always fought for equality within the culture we live and work, under a moral and ethical code of conduct under one standard rule of law that applies to all the people uniformly, regardless of one’s political or economic stature.
Reclaiming Democracy: Demanding Ethical Accountability
The executive, legislative, and judicial coequal branches of government were designed to provide checks and balances throughout the institutions, holding to account those members who acted outside one standard rule of law or code of conduct they swore an oath to uphold.
Lawmakers continue changing the ethical and procedural rules they swore an oath of office to uphold, ignoring their duty to serve and protect the American people first and foremost.
Political party affiliations no longer benefit the people since partisan ideals are simply a means to an end for politicians to get into office and ultimately further their own self-serving agendas.
Our legislators, mostly on the right, are derelict in meeting any of the requirements they were placed in their positions of trust to represent the needs of their constituents first, and neither their internal ethics committee nor any outside agency will enforce the ethical and lawful commitment they swore an oath of office to uphold. Call leaders out in Washington demanding America return to a more perfect union, in the republic, it was conceived by the people, for all the people first and foremost!
